Carla Hudson and Karen Robbins
Today we were privileged to hear from Karen Robbins, SPSFBC and Carla Hudson, Recipient and Graduate from the Single Parent program. Did you know that to date, Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County has given out over 4 million dollars in scholarships? More than financially supporting single parents returning to school, SPSFBC offers emotional support and becomes an extended family for the student and their child(ren). It's amazing how many programs are in place for them to help their students. They have Christmas parties, help students pay their bills, give them supplies such as laundry detergent and toothpaste and much much more. One of the things that left a lasting impression on me was when Carla said that her daughter Kayla who is fourteen years old is now planning to go to college. Carla now sits on the advisory board for SPSFBC and along with her daughter Kayla they volunteer and are committed to giving back and paying it forward.
Women In Networking will be announcing their annual scholarship donation this Summer! We will be presenting it at the August Scholarship Dinner. If you have purchased a raffle ticket for our door prizes at any of our monthly meetings, attended Holiday Extravaganza, purchased a silent auction item, attended Cocktails for a Cause or made a personal donation, YOU are contributing to the scholarships we give to SPSFBC! Thank you for all your support.
