We are thrilled to have Carol Westby with the Benton County League of Women Voters as our guest speaker this month! Carol was born and raised in Bentonville. Carol attended college in San Jose, California and first became involved with the League of Women Voters in Hilo, Hawaii while working on local environmental and limitation of nuclear weapons issues. Later, representing the Hawaii State Board of the League, she served on the Lt. Governor's Election Advisory Committee for four years. Since returning to Bella Vista in 1996, she volunteers at the Bella Vista Historical Museum, several community organizations, a local water board, the Benton County local League and serves on the Arkansas State League Board.
Carol was just recently named Woman of the Year and honored with the Agnes Williams Woman of the Year Award for 2010 for her valuable service as a long time member of the Benton County Democratic Women's Club.
Make sure to RSVP for this meeting and listen to Carol tell the importance of women staying in-tune with the political process: what it means to us as women, mothers and business people!
On another note: March 8th is the 100th celebration of International Women's Day-a day to commemorate the monumental strides that women have made in the past 100 years and renew our commitment to surmounting the great challenges that women still face around the world.
